SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Oak Technology Inc. here has announced that Simon Dolan, formerly head of marketing at LSI Logic Corp.'s Consumer Division, will join the company as vice president of corporate marketing and strategy.
Dolan, who was in charge of strategic, tactical and product marketing at LSI Logic's consumer unit, will oversee strategic planning, product line marketing and marketing communications. He will also be active in business development, the company said.
"Simon's breadth of marketing experience and relationships in system solutions and semiconductors, and his international experience and relationships, make him ideally suited to manage growth in our core businesses," said Young Sohn, president and CEO of Oak Technology. "His expertise will help expedite our turnaround strategy now underway," Sohn added.
In the past year and a half, Oak has decided to concentrate on image processing and optical storage solutions, and sold off PC-related businesses such as audio and graphics, which drained its resources.
"I joined Oak because the company is positioned to lead in two distinct high growth markets -- imaging and optical storage -- and the challenge to help implement the turnaround of the company was very appealing," Dolan said.
At LSI Logic, Dolan led the marketing efforts in game consoles, digital TV, DVD, and digital still cameras. He also held positions in strategic marketing and was vicepresident of marketing for LSI Logic Europe PLC. Dolan, a native of the U.K., also worked at Inmos Corp. before joining LSI in 1988.
