FREMONT, Calif.-- Credence Systems Corp. here today announced that it has shipped a follow-on order for a Duo Series test system to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
Credence, which has a long-standing relationship with TSMC, said the foundry will use the Duo system for high-volume production testing of digital mixed-signal ICs and systems-on-a-chip (SOCs). "The Duo's high performance testing capabilities provide TSMC with a competitive advantage, particularly as price and productivity concerns increase," said C.T. Lin, test manager for South Site Test at TSMC.
The Duo's high digital speed will increase TSMC's productivity by enabling it to perform at-speed wafer probing.
"With today's shrinking time-to-market cycles, subcontractor manufacturing services such as test and assembly companies and foundries are increasingly being leveraged to expand capacity while simultaneously controlling manufacturing costs and raising productivity," said Graham Siddall, president and CEO of Credence.
