MILPITAS, Calif.-- C-Cube Microsystems Inc. here announced that its single-chip DVxpert 5120 broadcast encoder/decoder (codec) for streaming digital video over the Internet will provide MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video encoding for Cisco Systems Inc.'s new video-over-IP networking product, the IP/TV 3400 Broadcast Server.
The C-Cube codec has been integrated into an advanced digital video networking solution created by Optibase Inc., a provider of streaming media solutions. Optibase recently announced an agreement to supply Cisco with its solution for the IP/TV 3400.
Cisco selected the Optibase solution with C-Cube codec because it allows efficient streaming of high-quality video over networks while conserving bandwidth, according to Bob DeFeo, president of Optibase Inc. in San Jose. "C-Cube's codec plays an important role in our MPEG digital video technology and is ideal for Cisco customers who wish to deliver high quality video across the enterprise."
DVxpert 5120 codec is a single-chip solution designed to address the video compression and decompression demands of one and two-way video networking applications such as streaming video, video conferencing and video surveillance.
