TechInsights unveiled a keynote speaker lineup that includes former Apollo
13 astronaut, Thomas Kenneth "Ken" Mattingly II, Rear Admiral, USN
(retired), Steve Sanghi, President and CEO of Microchip Technology Inc., and
Dr. Lisa T. Su, Chief Technology Officer and General Manager of the
Networking and Multimedia Group at Freescale Semiconductor, for its ESC Silicon Valley 2009,
at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California from March 30
through April 3.
With a theme of "Learn Today, Design Tomorrow," keynote highlights include:
Ken Mattingly: NASA--Operational Excellence
Few have experienced crisis management on the same level as Mattingly. One
of the heroes of the ill-fated Apollo 13 manned lunar-landing mission,
Mattingly was pulled from the Apollo 13 flight at the last minute for
medical reasons but led the successful efforts to save his fellow
astronauts. Mattingly hasn't stopped there. Successes since NASA include
commercialization of space and commercial launch systems that have
revolutionized global communications.
Steve Sanghi: Embedded Systems Development: A Hidden Information-Processing
An Arizona Entrepreneur of the Year award recipient, Mr. Sanghi led
Microchip Technology Inc. to fiscal success and industry prominence.
Co-author of "Driving Excellence: How the Aggregate System Turned Microchip
Technology from a Failing Company to a Market Leader," Sanghi discusses
winning strategies for technology companies.
Lisa Su: Embedded "On the Go" Applications: Key to Semiconductor Industry
Freescale Semiconductor's CTO, Dr. Su oversees the leading embedded
processing solutions company's technology roadmap and global R&D operations.
Prior to Freescale, Su was vice president of the Semiconductor Research and
Development Center at International Business Machines Corporation (IBM). A
prolific author, she was named in MIT Technology Review's Top 100 Young
Innovators in 2002 and was recognized as an IEEE Fellow in 2008.
According to Rich Nass of TechInsights, "This year's keynotes have a depth
and breadth of experience and wisdom that is especially important to the
embedded community against the current backdrop of global crisis. The three
keynote speakers offer positive messages based on how to overcome crisis,
implement strategies that work in difficult times, and find opportunities in
the near term."
