Altera's Stratix III EP3SL340 FPGA with 340,000 logic elements, was selected by The Dini Group for use in its DN7020K10, the industry's largest single-board FPGA-based prototyping engine for ASICs. The ultra-high-capacity prototyping board targets such users as wireless communications, networking and graphics processing, and can be used to verify logic designs and run them at near real-time clock speeds.
The DN7020K10 supports 20 EP3SL340 FPGAs in 1,760-pin packages providing 1,104 user I/Os per device and the capacity of up to 50 million equivalent ASIC gates. Board features include:
- Global clock networks reach every FPGA
- 6 DDR2 SODIMM memory sockets
- A wide range of daughter cards: ARM core tile, AD-D/A, PCIe, etc.
- USB and flash configuration
The Stratix III EP3SL340 340K logic elements (LEs) supports DDR3 memory with interface speeds in excess of 1067 Mbps. According to Altera, it offers the lowest power consumption of any high-density, high-performance programmable logic device (PLD). The combination of the device's LEs, 17 Mbits of embedded memory and 575 18 x 18 multipliers gives designers an unparalleled level of functionality.
