Hirschmann Automation and Control presents a new managed Fast/Gigabit Ethernet switch from the MACH1000 family. With this design, all the connections with the exception of a service port are located on the rear of the device. The 24 fast Ethernet ports, up to four of which support PoE, are available with M12 connections as well as in any combination for other connectors such as MTRJ, ST, SC or RJ45. For the Gigabit Uplinks, two combo ports (10/100/1000 BASE-TX) are optionally available and can be equipped with SFP fiber modules (1000 BASE-FX/SX/LX/LH). In this way, the new design offers a high bandwidth in combination with the industry-proven M12 connection technology for the first time.
All switches from the MACH1000 family fulfill the requirements of IEC 61850 and are designed for a temperature range of between -40 and +85 degrees Celsius. Other features include a high vibration resistance and great immunity to electrostatic discharge and magnetic fields. The switches are therefore particularly suited for applications in extreme environmental conditions, for example in substations, on trains or on ships.
Redundancy methods such as Fast HIPER Ring (switching time <10ms), Rapid Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation ensure a high network availability. The security mechanisms include access control in accordance with IEEE 802.1x, IP and MAC port security as well as SNMP v3 and SSH. The fan-less cooling and an optional redundant power supply also contribute to the high operational reliability.
Diagnostic LEDs are located on the front panel of the switch. The status can also be detected decentrally via integrated signal contacts. Detailed information can be displayed by a standard Web browser. A further central management function is offered by the integrated SNMP interface which enables the use of a network management software.
