BOSTON Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had a sharp exchange with Michael Dell, CEO of Dell Computers, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
During a panel question-and-answer session, Dell praised Putin's efforts to upgrade Russia's IT infrastructure and acknowledged Russia's scientific talent. He then asked how the IT sector can help Russia broaden the economy as it moves out of the crisis.
"We don't need any help," Putin replied. "We are not invalids. We don't have limited mental capacity."
Putin then summarized the progress Russia has made in the IT sector.
He took a final swing at Dell by emphasizing that Russian scientists were respected for their software skills, not hardware, implying that PC iron was a less challenging field.
The incident was reported by several news sources and posted to Youtube.com.
