Agilent EEsof EDA is offering a free webcast on November 28th covering the simulation and design of software defined radios (SDRs) for military and commercial applications. The webcast is scheduled to discuss the simulation, design and test of SDRs applicable to both military and commercial applications.
System performance is evaluated first using a legacy waveform, and then a new SDR waveform, and the results are compared. Software simulation and test instrumentation are then combined to test the hardware with the RF system model, for real-signal, one-box testing of a SDR.
David Patterson, known for his pioneering research that led to RAID, clusters and more, is part of a team at UC Berkeley that recently made its RISC-V processor architecture an open source hardware offering. We talk with Patterson and one of his colleagues behind the effort about the opportunities they see, what new kinds of designs they hope to enable and what it means for today’s commercial processor giants such as Intel, ARM and Imagination Technologies.
