There are single chip dedicated ECG devices from TI/ADI which does most of the stuff mentioned above at lower power than a uC. So why should one bother about using a generic cypress PSoC device?

Thats quite true that readily available solutions are there but for academic purpose PSoC is a growing technology and it always helps this kind of article to make use of growing technology for some unseen betterment.

ECG is a quite mature product from TI or ADI and I think the trend is further reduce the cost and complexity or even lower power. Going SoC device may only be good for academic purpose rather than putting anything innovative. Anyway this article is good for new comer.

can the Cypress engineers point out the advantages of using the PSoC over the established dedicated chip solutions from TI/ADI. Nonetheless the article is very informative

PSoC can reduce the size and weight of the product. A good communication interface it provides with other systems.Cost saving and low power. Tha applications can be designed with a friendly user inteface.

Hi Kris, The gain is adjustable and can be from 1,2,4,8,16,24,32,48,50 which are custom available for the Programmable Gain Amplifier. For the instrumentation amplifier, either the two opamp topology using 2 PGA's can be implemented (Differential Amplifier Topology with one PGA having positive gain and other Negative gain) or a three opamp topology can be used.
