Fifty years ago, General Motors was at the fore of early robotics
development and deployment, collaborating in 1961 with Joseph
Engelberger, the so-called father of robotics. That partnership
resulted in the first industrial robot used in a GM production
Today, GM employs 25,000 of them.
And boy have robots grown up! Here's a holiday greeting from a few
of them, in GM's Fort Wayne factory, programmed to do something
other than welding, fastening and painting.
