LONDON – Kathryn Kranen, president and CEO of EDA company Jasper Design Automation Inc. has been announced as the winner of the 2013 ACE Lifetime Achievement Award.
Kranen has more than 20 years of experience in the EDA industry. As well as being CEO of Jasper (Mountain View, Calif.), a privately-held company that specializes in formal verification and design, Kranen is the chair of the EDA Consortium industry group. Prior to several years leading Jasper Kranen was CEO of Verisity Design Inc.
The ACE awards are given out by UBM Tech, the publisher of EE Times and EDN, and past winners of the ACE lifetime achievement award include Gordon Moore of Intel fame, Wilf Corrigan of LSI Logic, Irwin Jacobs, the founder of Qualcomm and Pasquale Pistorio, a former long-time CEO and chairman of STMicroelectronics.

As CEO, Kranen has brought Jasper's formal methods into the mainstream of design verification. At Verisity Kranen had similar success and helped build the market in design verification and paved the way for Verisity to go public in 2001 and eventually to be bought by Cadence Design Systems Inc. in 2005.
Prior to working for Verisity, Kathryn was vice president of North American sales at Quickturn Systems. She started her career as a design engineer at Rockwell International, and later joined EDA pioneer Daisy Systems. In 2009, Kranen was named one of the EE Times' Top 10 Women in Microelectronics. In 2005, Kranen was recipient of the Marie R. Pistilli Women in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Achievement Award. She graduated Summa cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
