LOWELL, Mass. The M/A-COM division of AMP Inc. has launched a three-port surface-mount drop-in design for its family of circulators and isolators.
The design, offered in the company's FR31 and FR32 series, uses a lead approach that is said to increase reliability and make handling easier during manufacturing.
M/A-COM said its surface-mount circulators are the only distributed-element ferrite circulators that are fully compatible with surface-mount processing and pick-and-place manufacturing equipment. They are specifically designed to withstand the high temperatures involved in solder-flow manufacturing. The robust leads allow for continued coplanarity with the mounting and ground-plane surfaces throughout even difficult assembly processes, the company said. They are priced below $20 in 10,000-unit quantities.
