OYSTER BAY, N.Y. Single-in-line memory modules can be mounted perpendicularly to the motherboard using an adapter from Mill-Max that can be hand- or reflow-soldered to the edge of a 0.062-inch-thick board. The adapter may also be plugged in to a staggered strip socket on the motherboard.
The pins are precision-machined brass and plated tin. Lengths vary to suit the board.
A 20-position tin-plated SIMM adapter (P/N 494-90-00-200200) is priced at about $2.59 each in quantities of 1,000. Delivery is approximately three weeks.
