MELVILLE, N.Y. Lambda's PA and PM series of industry-standard-footprint, pinout-compatible dc/dc converters aim at cutting 20 percent off the cost of competing units, with the PA providing about the same increase in output-current capability.
The half-brick PA series, a form, fit and functional replacement for corresponding Lucent units, delivers from 50 to 150 W. Applications include telecom, switching equipment, printed-circuit-board-mounted power and distributed power. Key features for the low-profile (half-inch) units include remote on/off control, 2:1 input-voltage range, agency standards approved and two-year warranty. The cost of a 150-W unit is $71 each in quantities of 1,000, with eight- to 12-week delivery on production quantities.
The PM series, also for telecom applications, delivers 10 to 30 W from a nominal 12, 24 or 48-V input (75-V input maximum with 2:1 input range). The wave-solderable, 0.35-inch-high converters, a second source for Artesyn converters, meet ETSI standard ESI-300-132 requirements for inrush current and input surge voltage.
These converters also come with a two-year warranty. The price for a 10-W converter in the PM line is $24 each in thousands. Delivery time is six to eight weeks in production quantities.
