PINE BROOK, N.J. The CR Series of field-installable circular connectors from Hirschmann need fewer individual parts than many similar connectors and can be assembled in less than half the time, according to the company. The connectors are for factory-automation, measurement, control and regulatory applications.
A patented insulation-displacement technique eliminates stripping, soldering, screw tightening or crimping of individual wires. Users assemble the connector by inserting three leads and the ground into the housing, then pressing in the insulation displacement contacts with pliers.
The CR Series can accommodate jacketed cable from 5 to 11 mm OD, and wire cross-sections between 0.5 and 0.75 mm2 (18 to 20 AWG). An assembly lock provides secure connections, and an integral bayonet-locking safety sleeve ensures optimal strain relief and protection from dirt and water. The line is designed for operating voltages to 250 V and operating currents to 8 A.
Pricing starts at $3.50 in 25-piece quantities.
