MINNEAPOLIS Artesyn's SXA10 is the first series in a family of isolated, surface-mount, open-frame dc/dc converters. With a 2- x 1.13- x 0.41-inch profile and an average weight of 14 grams, it is significantly lighter than comparable encapsulated models, making it compatible with high-volume SMT processes.
The first two models in this four-model series, designed for the communications market, deliver 10 W at a nominal 3 or 5 V from a 25- to 75-V input. Output specifications include a voltage setpoint accuracy of plus/minus 1 percent, line regulation of 3 mV typical, 12 mV maximum; ripple and noise of 15 mVrms typical, 35 mVrms maximum and an MTBF of at least 1 million hours at 30 degrees C, per MIL-HDBK-217F. The SXA10 is shipped in recyclable transport trays, which can be returned to Artesyn for reorders.
The converters carry full international safety approval to EN55022 and EN61000 and meet EMI level A specs for conducted and radiated emissions. The converters sell for $19.60 each in quantities of 5,000. Evaluation kits are also available, which include an SXA10 premounted on an evaluation board, the SXA10 data sheet and an application note.
