MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Elco Corp., the connector division of AVX Corp., has introduced a trio of component families in a connector system for compact flash-memory-card applications such as digital cameras and electronic organizers.
PCMCIA- and JEIDA-compatible, the 5610, 5611 and 5612 components form the flash-memory-card kit. The 5610 Series features a 50-position contact with a 1.27-mm contact spacing and either a right or left ejector button.
A keying mechanism and guide rail help align the component while a grounding tab prevents shorts. The 5610 has a 0.5-A per-pin current rating and a 5-V rated voltage with dielectric withstanding voltage off 500 Vrms/minute.
Corresponding connector receptacles make up the 5611 Series. The receptacle has a grounding tab to cut the chance of shorting between the pc board and shielding covers.
Finally, the 5612 Series frame-cover kit completes the system. The welded kit includes a stainless steel front and back cover, as well as an adhesive strip to secure the cover tightly to the card frame. The complete kit is available at approximately $4 each in 1,000-unit quantities. Delivery time is stock to 12 weeks.
