NEW YORK A single-chip Universal Serial Bus (USB) keyboard encoder from USAR Systems has a PS/2 port for the hot-plug connection of legacy keyboards and pointers. The GeniKey enables OEMs to link both a keyboard and a mouse to a single USB port. Evaluation kits including a board, IC and cables, are priced at $150.
David Patterson, known for his pioneering research that led to RAID, clusters and more, is part of a team at UC Berkeley that recently made its RISC-V processor architecture an open source hardware offering.
