Zetex has a high-current Schottky diode in a miniature SOD-323 surface-mount package that it says will support a continuous forward current of 400 mA for a typical forward voltage of 425 mV. The ZHCS400 carries less current than the 500-mA ZHCS500, which comes in an SOT-23, and offers a pc board space savings of 70 percent compared with the SOT-23 package, Zetex said.
Current performance is rated under three conditions: continuous, average and pulsed, which are given as 400 mA, 1 A and 6.75 A, respectively. Applications range from dc/dc conversion to LCD backlighting.
As a key determinant of power dissipation, the ZHCS-400's forward-voltage attributes enable the Schottky diode to enhance overall circuit efficiency. Power dissipation at an ambient temperature of 25 degrees C is described as 250 mW. As for the IF/VF characteristic, VF is 270 mV at 50 mA and 440 mV at 500 mA.
The ZHCS400 has a reverse recovery time of 10 ns when switched from an IF of 500 mA to an IR of 500 mA and is thus said to switch faster than comparable P-N junction parts. Reverse leakage current is 15 microamps at a reverse voltage of 30 V. Reverse breakdown voltage for the Schottky is detailed as 40 V for a reverse current of 200 microamps.
Pricing is 14 cents each for order volumes of 10,000 pieces. Delivery is eight weeks maximum.
