SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE The 74VCXF162835 from Fairchild Semiconductor is a low-voltage, 18-bit universal bus driver with 3.6-V-tolerant outputs and 26-series resistors in the outputs. The device complies fully with logic interface requirements for the PC133 SDRAM registered dual in-line memory module. Together with the 74VCX16838/ 2838 and the 74VCX16839/ 2839, Fairchild now provides designers with 16-, 18- and 20-bit solutions for 168-pin, 3.3-V, 133-MHz SDRAM registered module address and control buffering.
Designed for buffered memory modules, the 74VCXF162835 is aimed at DIMMs with memory densities of 64, 128, 256 and 512 Mbytes.
Series resistors in the outputs reduce ringing while edge rate control circuitry reduces device-generated noise and electromagnetic interference, protecting sensitive memory address drivers, clock drivers and bus transceivers/transmitters, Fairchild said. Additionally, the device's fast switching speed (3.2 ns maximum clock to output at 3.3 V) supports the high-speed requirements of 133-MHz synchronous DIMMs.
The device is fabricated with an advanced CMOS technology to achieve high-speed operation while maintaining low CMOS power dissipation.
It comes in the 56-lead thin shrink small-outline package (TSSOP). The 74VCXF162835 is priced at $2.45 in 1,000-piece quantities. Samples and production quantities are available.
