BRIDGEWATER, N.J. Receiver/emitter modules from Hamamatsu Corp. allow high-speed optical-fiber communication with low noise and wide dynamic range. Receiver modules have either silicon photodiodes for operation at 0.8 micron or indium gallium arsenide photodiodes for 1.3- or 1.55-micron wavelength operation. Both have an internal preamplifier and can handle data rates of either 1 Gbit/second or 2.5 Gbits/s. They are available in TO-18 packages or as modules with SC connectors for single-mode fiber applications.
The emitters include a Fabry-Perot laser diode optimized for 1.3-micron wavelength operation and also operate at 1 Gbit/s or 2.5 Gbits/s. They are available with SC connectors.
The receivers and the emitters operate over the -20 degrees to 70 degrees C range. Prices start at $39.
