NORWOOD, MASS. Analog Devices Inc. has added the ADSP-2186M to its ADSP-218x family of digital signal processors. Target applications include channel multiplexing, speech recognition, power-line monitoring, industrial and motor control, and personal digital assistants.
The DSP integrates 320 kbytes of on-chip memory (configured as 8k words each of program and data memory) and delivers 75 Mips at 2.5 volts. Features include dual serial ports, a programmable timer, flag I/O and what AMD says are extensive interrupt capabilities.
The ADSP-2186M is code-compatible with other ADSP-21xx devices and is pin-compatible with 218x M-family devices. It's available in 100-lead LQFPs and 144-ball mini-BGAs and is $4.95 each in quantities of 25,000.
