BOISBRAND, QUEBEC Teknor Applicom Inc. claims its PCI-P3S44OBX single-board computer for passive-backplane systems manages the high-throughput demands of near real-time in mission-critical computer-telephony integration (CTI) server and telecommunications applications.
Benoit Robert, director of product marketing for board- level products, said the single-board computer (SBC) is built around a high-speed Pentium III processor and 440BX chip set, whose low-profile FC-PGA packaging makes the board small enough to be incorporated into 1U-high rack-mount equipment.
"Using the Pentium III processor's flip-chip pin grid array package is a decisive element" in making the SBC sufficiently low profile to fit within 1U constraints, said Robert. "In rack-mounted sites, board height plays a significant role."
Robert claims "superior performance" and a "full feature set" for the PCI-P3S44OBX, which provides up to 768 Mbytes of SDRAM, a "high-performance" PCI Ultra DMA/33 IDE, CompactFlash disk support and a fully loaded l0 Base T/l00 Base TX Ethernet port. The board also sports a 64-bit AGP SVGA CRT controller with 2 Mbytes of dedicated SDRAM, USB ports, serial/parallel ports and a floppy interface. An Ultra Fast/Wide SCSI-3 controller is optional.
With a 600-MHz Pentium III processor, the board is priced at $1,385 without SDRAM; with a 750-MHz processor, it's $1,930.
