BURGAW, N.C. The 81-8458 Series of spring-clamp contact printed-circuit-board terminal blocks from Wieland Electric features a modular design with individual single-pole sections that snap together to create a connector of any length.
The connectors come in either horizontal or vertical wire-entry configurations and feature twin solder tail contacts to provide additional mechanical stability when attaching to the printed-circuit board.
The design of the spring- clamp contact is said to put the wire entry and the tool access in the same plane for simplified wiring. No special tools, only a standard screwdriver, is needed to actuate the spring-contact mechanism.
The connectors are available in 5, 5.08, 7.5 and 7.62-mm contact pitch. They are rated for 250 volts and 16 amperes and are designed to accommodate finely stranded conductor sizes from 22 to 12 AWG. Each termination point features a built-in test contact point for accurate readings during testing and troubleshooting.
Constructed of polyamide 6.6 insulating material with a UL 94 V-0 nonflammability rating, the individual one-position modules snap together by hand to assemble a connector of any number of positions. An endcap is used to enclose the last module on the connector. Twin solder tails provide for a more secure electrical and more mechanically robust connection to the printed-circuit board.
Pricing for the 81-8458 Series modular connectors starts at 8 cents each in 1,000-piece quantities. Delivery time is stock to six weeks.
