FRENCHTOWN, N.J. Aries Electronics has launched its AR-6922 line of RF test sockets that contains an integrated heat sink for cavity-down quad flat packs (QFPs).
The top-sided heat sink rests on the QFP's heat spreader to increase heat dissipation away from the QFP device. Depending on application needs, the socket's heat sink can be furnished in aluminum or copper. The heat sink can be supplied with cooling fins or with a flat-top surface for users who wish to add another heat sink.
The heat sink socket features the company's patented Microstrip Contacts, which provide 0.01 nH self-inductance per contact. The sockets exhibit 10-GHz bandwidth at 1.0 dB at temperatures from -55 degrees to 155 degrees C. Typical life cycles for the contacts are said to be 500,000 insertions/withdrawals with no loss of performance.
The sockets are available for QFPs and other packages with top-sided heat spreaders, with up to 208 leads.
Pricing for an Aries heat sink RF test socket with up to 48 leads in a five-piece quantity, is $1,695 each. Delivery is in six weeks.
