SANTA ANA, CALIF. The TPC 2562-120 and -240 products from Pulizzi Engineering are said to be the first ac power distribution units to combine true redundant input and undervoltage protection with ultrafast switching.
Either version accepts two ac power inputs-dual 120 Vac or dual 240 Vac (both 16 amps)-monitoring the input voltage and automatically switching to the secondary power source within 18 plus/minus 5 milliseconds if the primary source fails. Power input is available via two IEC 60320, C20 power inlets located on the rear (power cables are available separately).
Both power inlets have integrated EMI/RFI protection, isolating any noise before it enters the unit. Both are additionally protected with in-line fuses and surge suppressors. The system will remove either source if an undervoltage condition or loss of power occurs.
The 120-Vac unit has a factory-set dropout of 92.5 Vac and a pull-in of 100 Vac. Specs for the 240-Vac unit are 185 and 200 Vac, respectively. Other pull-in/drop-out levels can be set at the factory.
The TPC 2562 is 1.75 inches high and 9.5 inches deep. It comes in a 19-inch rack-mount system with detachable brackets that allow for front, rear or recessed mounting. Vertical mounting brackets are available as an option.
Front-panel readouts include a lighted on/off circuit breaker and power indicator LEDs that indicate "low voltage" or "power good" for each source. The unit was designed to meet EN 60950 third-edition safety requirements. It is priced at $700 apiece.
