WAUKEGAN, ILL. JST Corp. has begun marketing its MMC connectors, which are molded of LCP that use gold-plated phosphor bronze contacts rated for 10,000 mating operations.
The two versions, 7-pin and 9-pin, are offered in trays or embossed tape for automatic insertion equipment.
A 9-pin SD card design incorporates the write-protect switch, card lock notch, card detect, and possible ESD grounding mechanism per the SDMC Association specification.
Pricing for the 7-pin and 9-pin connectors in typical quantities of 25,000 is 60 cents and 66 cents each, respectively.
JST has also introduced series PS connectors that provide housings and tab-on terminals for positive lock connections to No. 110, 187, 205 and 250 tabs. Mating and unmating is simplified via a special contact lock spring, which is disengaged by holding the housing during disconnect.
A housing lance is employed to reduce insertion force yet hold the contact firmly in place. Current rating of the crimp-type straight tab terminals is 25 amps ac/dc (with AWG 10 wire and 250 tab) at 250 volts ac/dc. Wire sizes AWG 10 to 26 are accommodated. They are priced at 8 cents each in OEM quantities.
