Lisle, ILL. Molex's blind-mate Micro-Fit 3.0 BMI connector system features a plug with a funnel-shaped entry that helps guide the mating receptacle for what is said to be simplified assembly.
A screwless mounting design securely locks the connector into place on the panel while enabling it to float inside the panel up to 0.050 inch in any direction to aid blind mating.
Designed for 0.062-inch panels, the wire-to-wire connector system is suited for power supplies in PCs, servers and routers; fan tray assemblies in PCs; and backplanes.
The Micro-Fit 3.0 connector system, which is said to incorporate many features previously found in large power connectors, can be used for either power or signal connection. It can carry up to 5 amps of current per circuit, depending upon customer application.
A box-type crimp receptacle terminal accepts 20-30 AWG wire and provides four points of contact for improved reliability. Full isolation of the contacts on both sides of the interface helps prevent arcing between adjacent contacts and minimizes the potential for damage during handling and assembly.
The connector system's dual row plugs and receptacles are available with four to 24 circuits.
Prices for the Micro-Fit 3.0 BMI connector system depend on circuit size, style and quantity ordered. In 100,000-piece quantities, a four-circuit receptacle would cost 10 cents each. Delivery is typically six weeks.
