Malvern, Pa. The NTHS line of thermistors from Vishay Intertechnology Inc. can provide the temperature-sensing function in communications, automotive, computer and instrumentation applications, according to the company.
Vishay Dale recently added these negative-temperature-coefficient devices in surface-mount packages to its thermistor portfolio. The NTHS thermistors feature extended values and a 0603 case size, providing a versatile solution for temperature measurement, control and compensation applications in a range of end products.
Featuring high-density monolithic construction with a nickel barrier conductor, the parts also come in 0805, 1206 and 1012 package types with solderable wraparound terminations.
Standard resistance values range from 220 ohms to 330 kilohms, with five curve options providing temperature coefficients of resistance of -4.4 percent, -3.83 percent, -3.5 percent, -4.68 percent and -4.54 percent. Both plus/minus 5 percent and plus/minus 10 percent tolerance options are available.
Applications for the thermistors include cell phones, automobiles, computers, medical devices, consumer appliances and instrumentation, where they provide a miniaturized, surface-mount alternative to through-hole components and promote design flexibility with hybrid circuitry, according to the company.
Samples and production quantities of the NTHS thermistors are available now, with lead times of eight to 12 weeks for larger orders. They come in tape-and-reel packaging. Pricing is 15 cents in 5,000-piece quantities.
