San Diego Z-Communications Inc.'s V940ME02 voltage-controlled oscillator for broadband fixed wireless systems and U-NII/HiperLAN applications is said to deliver low phase noise in a compact, low-profile package.
The VCO covers 5,220 MHz to 5,420 MHz within 0.5 to 4.5 Vdc of control voltage, enabling quick integration into phase-locked loops, where the error voltage can be taken directly from an IC's charge pump circuitry. Spectral purity is -103 dBc/Hz, typically, at 100 kHz from the carrier.
The part comes in a low-profile package measuring 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.13 inch. It is suited for automated surface-mount assembly and reflow, and is available in tape-and-reel packaging. The V940-ME02 is priced at $15.95 each for prototyping.
