JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Bel Fuse Inc. has added a new magnetic module to its line of multistandard surface-mount transformers for G.Lite and ADSL-over-POTS networks.
The Bel S560-6600-A6 module integrates the magnetic hybrid transmit and receive transformers into one SMT package and is specifically engineered to optimize the performance of Advanced Micro Devices' AmDSL134 and AmDSL135 and Alcatel's Dynamite (MTK-20130, MTK-20140 and MTK-20150) driver ICs.
The device helps those chip sets facilitate full-rate ADSL speeds, of up to 8 Mbits/second downstream and 640 kbits/s upstream, and G.Lite ADSL speeds, of up to 1.5 Mbits/s downstream and 512 kbits/s upstream, over traditional copper-based networks.
Designed for central office applications, the transformer is suitable for digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) equipment and may additionally be specified for use in remote switching locations that use a digital loop carrier.
Further, by integrating the magnetic hybrid transmit and receive functions in a 0.56 x 0.555 x 0.394-inch SMT module, the S560-6600-A6 offers pc-board savings, ease of board layout and manufacturing efficiencies, the company said.
Bel Fuse said that the integrated device is electrically equivalent to other discrete, single-transformer devices and that it provides low insertion loss, good return loss and minimal crosstalk. The device features 1,500-Vrms isolation and operates across an extended temperature range of -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C.
The integrated transformer is provided in a 10-pin configuration and sells for $1.57 each in 10,000-piece quantities. Delivery takes six to eight weeks.
