TORRANCE, CALIF. - LEDtronics Inc. says its new family of sunlight-visible miniature-base LED lamps incorporate advanced optical-grade epoxy to produce bright and evenly dispersed illumination. The LEDs are plug-compatible with illuminated switches and indicators from most major manufacturers, the company said. Unique configurations of bicolor, blinking, infrared, ultrabright or very low-current LEDs are available by special order. Standard packages are T1 (3-mm) submidget flange, bi-pin, T1 1/2 (4.5-mm) midget wedge, T1 3/4 (5-mm) flange, groove S6 screw and bi-pin bases.
Because a typical LED lamp provides an intense beam of colored light, no colored lenses or filters are needed. The viewing angle depends on the shape of the epoxy lens and the LED chip's position within it. The intensity and wavelength remain stable over the lamp's lifetime of 100,000 hours or more. Additionally, the miniature-base LED lamps are environmentally friendly because they use 80 to 90 percent less operating power than standard incandescent bulbs.
Due to their solid-state construction, they are particularly fit for applications that are subject to vibration, shock and environmental stress, all which reduce the life of incandescent lamps. These include indicators for process controls, aircraft instrumentation, elevator panels, automobile lighting, medical and scientific equipment, and other instances where long-lived, energy-efficient light sources are required. The LEDs feature almost instantaneous turn-on and turn-off without transients.
Lamps can be supplied for all common indicator supply voltages from 5 to 120 Vdc or ac (50 to 400 Hz). These products contain built-in current-limiting resistors and polarity-protection diodes to ensure that circuit modifications are not required. They are offered in nine standard LED colors (red, orange, amber, yellow, lime yellow, green, pure green, blue and white). Direct replacements are available for the most popular incandescent lamps.
Prices range from $4.50 to $24 in 100-piece quantities. Samples are available to qualified customers. Delivery is two to four weeks on quantities under 500, and four to six weeks on larger quantities.
