SAN JOSE, CALIF. - An evaluation board for the new Analog Devices Inc. ADSP-21ESP202 embedded speech processor is now available from Momentum Data Systems.
The ESP202 EVB is billed as a versatile development platform for embedded speech applications using the ADSP-21ESP202 chip. The board provides a Universal Serial Bus interface to speed program downloading and debugging and allow for real-time audio transfer between the PC and the DSP.
The company's embedded speech processor is a 16-bit, 49-Mips DSP with 40 kbytes of on-chip RAM (including 8 kwords of 24-bit program and 8 kwords of 16-bit data memory) and two high-speed serial interfaces. Two built-in speech codecs provide analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion on-chip.
Momentum Data Systems said that analog interfaces make its board a complete development solution for embedded speech processing, for applications including speech recognition, voice control and speech synthesis. The unit has balanced line-level analog audio input and output, a microphone input and a loudspeaker driver to support analog speech interfacing. The line-level analog interface provides 16-bit analog I/O at an 8-kHz speech sample rate, with voiceband filtering. The separate microphone input and amplified driver connects to the board without the need for external amplification.
A PC controls the board through the USB interface. Software is provided to download and control programs across the USB as well as to upload and download data.
The ESP202 EVB is priced at $995 and is available now.
