Kanata, Ontario - A commercial off-the-shelf VME single-board computer from DY4 Systems, based on the Intel Pentium III embedded mobile module, has been designed and optimized for harsh environments, the company said.
The SVME/DMV-93 provides what DY4 Systems termed the highest performance for embedded desktop computing environments available in embedded packaging. Its ability to withstand extended temperatures, shock and extreme vibration suits it for airborne, land-mobile and naval command/control applications, the company said.
The board offers all the features of a fully configured PC/AT motherboard as well as 512 kbytes of Level 2 cache memory, up to 256 Mbytes of SDRAM and 2 Mbytes of flash EPROM. Other features include a built-in Ethernet interface, dual PCI mezzanine card interface, fast SCSI-2 interface, ultra EIDE, two Universal Serial Buses, four serial channel interfaces and a full VME64 interface.
The module also packs a complement of standard I/O, including one parallel and four serial I/O ports, in addition to keyboard and mouse interfaces. Up to 80 Mbytes of DiskOnChip is available, for full read/write desk emulation and file-system support. Pricing starts at $8,750. The board is available this quarter.
