Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. - The Mariner II V158 single-board computer (SBC) from General Micro Systems, targeted for high-performance industrial and military applications, comes in two flavors: third-generation Pentium III VMEbus and CompactPCI. Both feature a peak performance of 1 GHz and provide up to five PMC expansion slots.
The SBCs are available with Celeron, Coppermine-128 and Coppermine-256 processors. The Celeron unit comes equipped with 128 kbytes of on-chip cache and operates at up to 500 MHz. The two Coppermine units are available with up to 256 kbytes of on-chip cache and operate at up to 1 GHz.
Both products provide up to 256 kbytes of on-die L2 cache, 512 Mbytes of field-upgradable SODIMM main memory, a 10/100 Base Tx Ethernet interface with Wake-On-Line, and dual Ultra DMA-33 IDE hard-driver interfaces. Each SBC also has a pair of USB ports, two comm ports, a printer port, a floppy port, mouse/keyboard interfaces, and up to 144 Mbytes of Disk-On-Chip flash, which can be configured as a bootable drive for diskless systems.
The five PMC slots enable plug-and-play communications, graphic, mass-storage and industrial I/O options. Two of the slots are mounted directly on the card. Three more slots can be added by plugging a three-slot module into a PMC expansion connector. Pricing starts at $1,995. Delivery is from stock.
