Santa Clara, Calif. - NEC Electronics has added the 50-Mips V850E/IA2 to its V850 line of 32-bit RISC microcontrollers. With integrated flash, ROM and RAM options, it's optimized for industrial high-end inverter, motor control and home appliance applications.
The device operates at 5 volts with clock speeds ranging from 4 to 40 MHz. For two-system motor driving by means of inverter control, it includes ROM and RAM, two channels of three-phase sine-wave pulse-width modulation timers, channel up- and downcounters for two-phase encoder input, and eight- and six-channel analog-to-digital converters.
It also provides UART, CSI and UART CSI serial interfaces for applications that require communica-tion among several peripheral devices.
The V850E/IA2 is packaged in a 14 x 14-mm LQFP and priced at $18 in quantities of 10,000 for a flash version and $7.20 for a ROM version. Samples are expected in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.
