Santa Clara, Calif. - New capabilities for second-, third- and 2.5-generation wireless communications development are promised in the EPM-P Series Power Meters from Agilent Technologies Inc. The company said the instruments offer firmware enhancements, an "analyzer" software program and an Interchangeable Virtual Instrument (IVI)-COM driver, along with the standard peak, average, peak-to-average ratio and time-gated power measurements.
The firmware enhancements include a graphical-trace setup and analysis screen for real-time marker measurements of power and time. The analyzer program measures complementary cumulative distribution function, pulse top, overshoot, and rise and fall times in a PC environment to fully characterize both TDMA and CDMA signals.
For test system programmers who need to perform remote power measurements, the IVI-COM driver provides a flexible and standards-compatible programming platform, the company said. It operates in a variety of test system development environments, such as Visual Basic, C++, LabView and Agilent VEE.
Prices range from $3,015 to $5,170. The firmware enhancements and analyzer program will be included with Agilent EPM-P Series Power Meters purchased after July 1. The IVI-COM driver is expected to be available in August.
