Liberty, S.C. - Sealevel's PIO PCI cards provide 24, 32, 48 and 96 channels of buffered-drive digital I/O emulating 8255s. The cards are intended for use with industry-standard relay racks in PC-based control automation applications including sensors, switches, actuators, satellite antenna control systems, video and audio studio automation, security control systems and other industrial automation systems.
The cards are compatible with 8255 hardware and software and can be used as drop-in replacements for older 8255 cards, the company said. Each I/O port provides eight user-configurable inputs or outputs that can be customized as needed. Port status is selectable by writing a control word to the port register. Each port can be set to generate an interrupt for status-monitoring applications. A factory-configurable interrupt feature allows users to request conditional I/O combinations for interrupt generation.
The cards can be ordered with IDC or edge-connector ribbon cables for direct connection to industry-standard relay racks.
Both cards ship with a SeaI/O suite of drivers for Windows 98, ME and 2000 as well as drivers that simplify Linux installations. Pricing ranges from $159 to $299.
