Ayer, Mass. - Hybricon's Cool-P "pizza box" series of desktop enclosures uses the company's CoolSlot card guides to improve cooling ability near the front panel and backplane in board areas that are blocked by an enclosure's front lateral extrusions, and thus are normally deprived of airflow.
The card guides, which eliminate cooling "dead spots" on boards, provide more uniform airflow throughout the system. These low-profile enclosures, measuring 3.12 x 17 x 13.8 inches, provide three slots for 6U x 160-mm cards. They are available with the company"s CompactPCI or VME backplane.
The CompactPCI backplanes comply with the newly released version PICMG 3.0 spec and are available with the system slot on either the left or the right.
The Cool-P also includes a 120-watt switching power supply that provides 3.3, 5 and plus/minus 12 volts to the backplane. Additional features include provision for 80 mm rear plug-in modules, front and rear clips for proper grounding (per IEC 950 section 2) for all plugin modules, and rear ac power switch. An ac power cord is included. Pricing starts at $1,188, with delivery of four to six weeks ARO.
