Lexington, Mass. - STMicroelectronics has an in-system-programmable (ISP) memory chip for digital signal processors from Analog Devices Inc.
The DSM2190F4 supports ADI's ADSP-219x. Target markets include telephony, industrial equipment, automotive and consumer electronics.
The chip provides two independent flash arrays (one with 256 kbytes in 32-kbyte sectors and the other with 32 kbytes in 8-kbyte sectors), a PLD array with more than 3,000 gates and 16 macrocells, and 16 multifunction I/O pins. It connects directly to a DSP. Performance features include a 150-ns access time, 100,000 program-erase-cycle endurance and 15-year data retention.
A JTAG ISP port provides in-system programmability. The port can be connected to a DSP's JTAG debug port for fast code iterations. The chip operates from 3.3 volts plus/minus 10 percent over a -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C range. It comes in 52-pin PQFPs and PLCCs and is priced at $3.99 in quantities of 10,000.
