Chandler, Ariz. - Operational amplifiers from Microchip Technology Inc. are said to increase battery life compared with similar devices. The MCP602X family, for low-current, high-performance applications, offers rail-to-rail input and output that allows use of the full 2.5- to 5.5-volt supply range.
The single MCP6021, dual MCP6022 and quad MCP6024 units meet industry-standard pinouts. The amps are unity-gain stable, with a 10-MHz gain bandwidth product and noise of 8.7 nanovolts per square route of hertz.
Low offset voltage reduces the need for offsetting components while achieving low power consumption, minimizing board-space requirements and shortening design time and component cost, the company said. The amps can be used for bar code scanning applications as well as for driving analog-to-digital converters and buffering D/A converters.
In 1,000-unit quantities the price is 74 cents for the single MCP6021, 95 cents for the dual MCP6022 and $1.38 for the quad MCP6024. A single op amp with chip select, the MCP6023, is 77 cents. All four are in production, packaged in eight-pin and 14-pin PDIP, SOIC and MSOP.
