Marlboro, Mass. - Data Translation Inc.'s DT3162 is a variable-scan monochrome frame grabber that offers higher-speed data acquisition for newer, faster cameras.
Designed to ride on a PCI bus, the DT3162 has a 40-MHz acquisition rate, enabling its use with advanced software products that offer programmable timing, resolution, camera setup and video formatting.
The board's front-end design uses a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter, thus enabling it to capture noise-free images that are said to be comparable to those of an analog system. An autocalibrate feature also enables users to recalibrate on site using an on-board video signal. Support for the Camera Interface Module lets users connect any camera, triggering device or external clock signal into the DT3162 via a DIN-rail-mountable enclosure for quick setup.
Designed for an optimum 40-MHz pixel clock rate, the unit allows for precise image capture across a broad range of cameras. It features a camera/strobe timing control to ensure operation with any asynchronous-reset camera, no matter which mode it operates in. This feature is said to be vital for machine vision applications to capture images as needed without losing data.
Slated for availability in January, the DT3162 frame grabber will be priced at $1,495. The board requires a Pentium III-class processor, a 32-bit, 33-MHz PCI bus and supporting BIOS, one available PCI bus slot, Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, as well as 128 Mbytes of RAM.
