Santa Clara, Calif. - Elpida Memory (USA) Inc. is offering 512-Mbyte DRAM in small-outline, dual-in-line memory modules (SO DIMMs) for mobile computing applications.
Sixteen synchronous DRAM devices, each 256 Mbits (32 Mbits x 8), fit on each SO DIMM module. The 512-Mbyte devices-67.6 mm long, 31.75 mm wide and 3.8 mm thick-comply with the Jedec standard for 8-byte (x64) SO DIMMs.
The unbuffered devices feature a 64-bit configuration, two memory banks, 3.3-volt power supply, a low self-refresh current, PC133 and PC100 compatibility, and a 144-pin zigzag dual tab with an 0.8-mm lead pitch.
The modules' memory bus clock frequency operates at 133 MHz (PC133) or 100 MHz (PC100) with a CAS latency of 3 or 2, respectively. Both modules are supported by several chip sets designed for notebook applications. The PC133-compatible version is priced at $330 and the PC100 version at $300, both in 1,000-piece quantities.
