Milpitas, Calif. - Linear Technology Corp.'s LTC3414 is a high-efficiency, 4-MHz synchronous buck regulator in a 20-lead thin-shrink small-outline package using a constant-frequency, current-mode architecture that the company says can deliver up to 4 amperes of continuous current at output voltages down to 0.8 volt.
The buck regulator integrates internal MOSFET switches with an RDS(ON) of 67 milliohms to deliver efficiencies as high as 95 percent. It also uses low-dropout 100 percent duty cycle operation, enabling Vout = Vin (input range is 2.25 to 5.5 V). No-load quiescent current is 64 microamps (less than 1 microamps in shutdown mode. Pricing starts at $4.95 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
