Milpitas, Calif. - Sipex Corp.'s SPX-2950x family of low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators is said to provide output current of up to 5 amps, dropout of 400 millivolts typical and fast transient response. The units are targeted at PC VGA cards, sound cards and power supplies as well as equipment for telecommunications and industrial process control.
Offered in the industry-standard TO-220 or the TO-263 packages, the family is available with fixed-output voltages of 1.8, 2.5, 3.3 and 5 V, as well as adjustable-output voltages of 1.24 to 15 V. The devices are said to be highly stable, with ceramic capacitors. They provide 1 percent output accuracy, 1 percent load regulation and 0.06 percent line regulation.
The LDOs operate from voltages as high as 16 V and are fault-protected against overcurrent, reverse-battery, and positive- and negative-voltage transients. Optional enhancements such as enable and error flags are available.
Pricing starts at $2.85 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
