Romoland, Calif. - Protecting 10/100Base-TX data-handling circuitry under extreme operating temperatures from -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C, the NT805T series LAN filter module from Datatronics is said to be compatible with the industry's most popular transceiver chip sets for military networking environments.
The module offers filtering protection from electromagnetic interference, provides differential-to-common-mode rejection performance and helps overcome the bandwidth limitations common to Category 5 twisted-pair cabling, according to Datatronics. It meets PCMCIA requirements and is designed for use in a range of satellite systems as well as ground transmission/reception stations and remote instrumentation or test equipment, the company said.
Available in single-, dual- and quad-port configurations, the filter contains two channel-isolation transformers and is available with two common-mode chokes and predistortion resistors. The 1,500-Vrms minimum isolation from chip to cable is said to protect equipment from static charge on cabling, and the available common-mode chokes provide the necessary EMI filtering.
The unit is designed to IEEE 802.3 and ANSI X3.263 standards, including 350uH OCL with 8-milliamp bias. In addition, this module provides crosstalk reduction to help the system pass FCC, VDE and signal integrity requirements.
Insertion loss is -1.1 dB maximum at 1 to 100 MHz. Rise time is 2.5 nanoseconds typical from 10 to 90 percent. From 0.1 to 60 MHz, return loss is -5 dB typical; from 60 to 100 MHz, the typical return loss is -11 dB.
The common-mode choke rejection ratio is -45 dB from 0.1 to 60 MHz (-40 dB from 60 to 100 MHz). Crosstalk is -40 dB minimum from 0.1 to 60 MHz and -38 dB from 60 to 100 MHz.
Available in both transfer-molded through-hole and surface-mount packages, the filter module is pick-and-place compatible. Its high-temperature packaging can withstand IR reflow soldering equipment with a peak temperature of up to 235 degrees C, Datatronics said.
