Tucson, Ariz. - A series of surface-mount, bobbin-style inductors from C&D Technologies Inc. offers designers enhanced design flexibility with integral electromagnetic-interference (EMI) protection. The devices are suited to switch-mode power supplies where, for instance, the secondary coil can be used as a feedback winding.
The inductors' dual windings, with a 1:1 winding ratio, can be connected either in series or in parallel to create a wide range of inductance combinations. Nominal values range from 2.2 to 880 microhenries (at 10 kHz rms). Their maximum continuous-current rating is 9.5 amps.
These inductors have low dc resistance (7.5 to 805 milliohms). All devices are housed in packages measuring 12 x 12 x 8 mm and are rated for operation over -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C.
Available in a tape-and-reel format, the inductors in the company's 4900 series are fully compatible with high-volume automated manufacturing systems. Pricing begins at 54 cents each in OEM quantities.
