Harrisburg, Pa. - Combining durability and performance in a small package for GPS, automotive, wireless communications and other commercial applications, Tyco Electronics' MMCX microminiature RF connector is designed for broadband performance from dc to 6 GHz, for future system upgrades without needing to be concerned about performance degradation. The connector, which is 35 percent smaller than Tyco's MCX series, has a snap-on interface that is said to ensure full engagement and to simplify assembly by eliminating the need for a threaded connection.
Impedance is 50 ohms and durability is 500 cycles. The return loss is specified as a minimum -20.8 dB at frequencies up to 6 Hz. The operating temperature range is -55 degrees C to 155 degrees C. The part meets CECC interface specifications and is fully intermatable with competitive products.
The units are available in surface-mount; pc-board edge-mount; and straight- and right-angle configurations for popular cable sizes. Connector options include additional cable sizes and adapter variations.
Available on tape or reel for high-volume applications, a standard right-angle cable plug-to-straight pc-board jack-mated pair, or a standard straight cable plug-to-right-angle pc-board jack-mated pair are priced at about $2.25 each in lots of 5,000. Sample quantities are available.
