Harrisburg, Pa. - Raychem DuraSeal heat-shrinkable terminals and splices from Tyco Electronics insulate and protect electrical connections from mechanical abuse, wire pull-out and abrasion. They can also be used as a wire strain relief, the company said, and also in OEM applications. By providing additional impact and abrasion resistance, the DuraSeal heat-shrinkable splices and terminals give engineers a premium choice compared with entry-level heat-shrinkable splices and terminals, Tyco said.
The sealed components are said to resist water, salt spray and debris, and the dual-wall, adhesive-lined insulation resists fluids like diesel fuel, antifreeze and motor oil. The insulation shrinks at a 2:1 ratio, color coded to help identify the proper wire size for a given terminal. The operating temp is -55 degrees C to 125 degrees C.
The products are available in several configurations and accept 22- through 10-AWG wire. Pricing for a splice for 16- to 14-AWG wire is 20 cents per piece in quantities of 5,000. Delivery is two weeks.
