Fremont, Calif. - Exar Corp.'s DS3/E3/STS-1 line interface units feature an integrated jitter attenuator or Sonet desynchronizer.
Two devices-the three-channel XRT75R03D and the 12-channel XRT75R12D-address desynchronization requirements for mapping and demapping between Sonet/SDH (synchronous) and DS3/E3 (asynchronous) networking environments. The XRT75-R03D/12D series replaces the jitter attenuator with a desynchronizer.
Complementing these devices are the three-channel XRT75R03 and 12-channel XRT75R12. They incorporate an advanced crystal-less jitter attenuator that can be inserted in either the receive or transmit path, or disabled altogether. The XRT75R03 and -12 include an independent receiver for each channel, transmitter and jitter attenuator. Exar also offers a pin-compatible device without the jitter attenuator, called the XRT73R12. All devices support E3 (34.368 Mbits/second), DS3 (44.736 Mbits/s) and STS-1 (51.84 Mbits/s) modes of operation.
A differential receiver on each line interface unit provides a high noise interference margin capable of receiving data from cables of over 1,000 feet or up to 12 dB of cable attenuation.
Samples of the XRT75R03 and XRT75R03D, in 128-pin LQFP packages, are available now, priced at $51.98 and $58.98, respectively, for 1,000 units. Samples of the XRT73R12, XRT75R12 and XRT75R12D, in 420 TBGA packages, are also available, priced at $178.38, $205.14 and $235.91, respectively, in the same quantities. All parts operate at the industrial temperature range of -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C. Evaluation boards are available.
